Fields of application
The application of glue technologies in automodile industry.
Since the time first car was built more than a hundred years has passed. It’s no longer a luxury but a means of transport. Modern times dictate their rules, the tempo of life is constantly rising, the necessity of quicker movement occurs. Now cars are not only means of transport but mainly necessary means of transport.
In cars people spend much time. For ones it is a peculiar house on wheels and that’s why its living conditions and comfort indications should be appropriate.
Following the market requirements automobiles become more and more ideal every year, and their production – more and more massive.
The same thing happens to the technology of automobile production along with their brands.
The modern epoch offers constant optimization of production technologies along with advanging in products quality. The application of glues in automobile industry significantly simplifies the processes of producing a car and improves its final characteristics. The glue technologies are spread both in car production and in repair work and technical maintenance. Nowadays rather a wide range of glues are used in automobile production.
Glues must obtain special operation functions (have an excellent glueing capability to a wide range of materials, be resistant to a certain level of moisture, mechanical force and temperature difference) and other optional properties, depending on a special task.
The fact is that the automobile exploitation combines numerous factors in itself, which influences negatively on glue strength characteristics, used in its (automobile) production.
When choosing of glue material important are such characteristics as working temperature, moisture, oil, fuel, technical liquids resistance. The equipment used in automobile industry must be also chosen according to the commiting operations rules.
That’s why it’s necessary to give the right to choose a qualified glue solution of corresponding equipment and glue technologies to professioanls.
Nowadays a huge number of glues are used in automobile industry both for glueing of materials and fastening of various facing materials for car’s body elements. Glues for metals are applied mainly in joining of exterior facing sheets with amplifiying elements, for example, in pasting arcs of the hood and boot lid, stiffening ribs in doors, roof and side parts up.
Such glue types are also used when sticking docking stitch with folding. Glue is applied in a brow of bended sheet.
The glues for pasting of brake-shoe linings to brake pads up found a wide application which prolonges the use of brake devices.
Glues are also used in pasting panel, sealing and noise-shielding materials up, and fastening of emblems, brand labels and logotypes. It’s also necessary to use glue in produciton of car carpets and in fastening of carpeting in a car and in other operations of designing of car interiors.
Glues are used in assembling of car body, in producing of passenger car bodies from glass-fiber materials, in fastening of frontal and back windows, headlight and so on.
Glues are irreplaceable in many cases, in its maintenance and repair work.
When repairing a car with application of glue technologies the durability of joint mostly depends on quality of preparing the surface. There are, certainly, glues, which put strongly together details not clean enough. However two third of success lies in properly prepared and cleaned materials for glueing. Dirt, elements of old paint, rust, oil and moisture hamper in the contact of glue and reconstructing surface.
Glues are widely used to simplify assembling operations and progressing in tightness in the interfaces between details and for high reliability of screw joints.
The “MELTPACK” company offers individual approach to your glue solution in any automobile industry branch: from automobile production to repair work and car maintenance.
“ROSUPACK 2008” exhibition is one of the biggest specialized exhibitions in Russia. This year it was held on June 23-27 in the exhibition centre “KROKUS-EXPO”.

Prior to the 1970’s most manufacturer’s joints in corrugated box were either stapled or glued with a “pot and wheel” system. Since the advent of resin-based adhesives and closed, extrusion application systems, the possibility of running higher speeds with more accurate glue pattern placement became a reality. During the last 30 years, most of the systems installed were based on low-pressure adhesive system and a simple head that contacted that board, usually at an angle. The advent of faster direct-electric valves and further advances in adhesive technology have made jetting the glue from a distance away from the board a valid method for applying adhesives. Non-contact manufacturer’s joint glue application can offer advantages for corrugated converters, but also come with some downsides.
